by The Choice Adoptions Team
No one has ever said adoptions are easy. They're not... especially in 2020. However with the support of our community, Choice Adoptions is ensuring all involved in the adoption process are supported during what has become one of the most unpredictable and anxiety ridden years in recent history. 14 year old Kira reached out to Choice to make an adoption plan earlier this year. She worked with her advocate for months to create a birth and adoption plan that met all her expectations and ideals for the future, including hand selecting an adoptive family to raise her baby. She eventually gave birth this summer in Bend. A birth parent advocate from Choice escorted the adoptive family from Portland to be there for the delivery of baby Sebastian and offer support for the whole hospital stay.
Choice also facilitated a post placement meeting between the birth father and his family (from Baker City - even though the birth mother and father are no longer together).
Choice staff will always support, counsel and provide resources for both sides of the birth family. Covid has definitely thrown a wrench in what normally would be a pretty routine process, but with the support our community has provided, Choice is able to continue providing state-of-the-art, innovative (and flexible) services to those in our community who need it.
Just last week our birth parent advocate received a text message from Kira.
"Happy National Adoption Day!
Thank you guys for making this experience so amazing for me.
I couldn't have asked for a better second family ♥️ Sebastian is so blessed."

This is a great example of why we do what we do!
Happy Thanksgiving from the Choice Adoptions Team!
